Testimonials

We have just sampled one of your Melton Mowbray Pork Pies and were so impressed we thought a quick email to show appreciation of such a first class product was appropriate.

Best regards, Sue & Gavin,

Hi

I bought one of your Melton Mowbray pork pies yesterday and just wanted to say how excellent it is. The pastry has a nice rich crispy texture, the meat is cured and seasoned perfectly and the jelly has a wonderful light flavour.

Awesome.

I stopped off on my motorbike at your farmshop [...] and the bakery smell was great... wish i had more space to carry stuff on my bike as I'd have bought more!

Looking forward to ordering a few once I have contacted parents & friends etc. Once again hearty congrats and keep up the good work.
P.S. In 50 yrs of enjoying pork pies I think perhaps yours has to take number 1 place."

"Lovely place, perfect food!"

"The organic saddleback pork shoulder we had for Christmas was great - just the right balance of crispy yet melting rich crackling and moist, flavoursome meat. Delicious. The wild boar pate was great too, and so was the sausagemeat for our chestnut stuffing."

"Forgot to tell you how much we enjoyed last Thursday’s Wild Game Night, although I think the 3 bottles of wine helped! It was really nice to go to something different and it was well organised - you must have some good staff working for you!"

"Perfection. We bought a 'Wild Beaver' Pie at the Farmers Market on Saturday.  I just want to say that we thought it was absolutely, utterly and gloriously sensational! Thank you, and long live great British food!"

"I had the pleasure of visiting your stand at the recent ‘Taste of Birmingham’ and just had to let you know how delightful it was to discover the  ‘Holy Grail’ of Pork Pies. Having spent years searching for the pork pie I remember from my youth, it was a revelation to encounter your ‘Pie of Pies’! The pleasure of tasting again crunchy well cooked pastry, (but soft and white against the meat). The meat lean and in chunks no less! But the crowning glory of real jelly and lashings of it! They all merged into that lost memory of a symphony of gastronomic delight – the pastry actually stuck to the teeth! Lingering on the taste – I was lost in my youth again. A blessing on your heart for verily you bake a fine pork pie!

I am saddened by the mass produced factory tasteless, plastic pale imitations with mechanically recovered meat, a shelf life of several years, full of additives, derivatives, preservatives and fillers -  full of everything - denying the classic satisfaction of consuming a truly English Pork Pie. Your complimentary Beef ‘Pork’ Pie was consumed with relish!

Live long and Prosper! We’ll see you at the Harborne Market with luck!"
