Our Sheep
At Goosenest Farm we run up to 600 head of sheep, predominantly Hebridean. The breed is hardy, requires minimal intervention and does very well on our rich pasture land. We move them regularly from pasture to pasture to operate a clean grass system. The sheep are tended by our family and willing volunteers, and our trusty team of sheep dogs - Kendra, Faith, Bode and Buffy The Rat Slayer.

Conservation Grazing

Hebridean sheep were bred to cope with the barren conditions on the Hebridean Isles and thrive on land not suitable for other breeds. Their ability to eat coarse grasses and young tree seedlings make them ideal for “conservation grazing” – a system where animals are grazed on land specifically to return it to its former glory. We provide a conservation grazing service to private landowners and local wildlife trusts, helping them to maintain the region’s natural beauty.
